Hi,

Does anyone ride road bikes or does everyone ride mountain bikes? Are their any bike clubs or races? Anything you could tell me would be great.

Hi, Jeff!
My name is Mircea. I am from Moldova and I ride a MTB bike. I got your message from InfoHub forum. I am not a very experiences biker :-) but I think I can help you. :-)
If you plane to take your bike with you it's better if you will take a mountain bike. You know, most of roads are not very well in my country. So,it's better to ride a MTB instead of road bike. In spite of that, there are many peoples that prefer road bike. There are professional road bikers here. But as I told you before it's better if you will come with an MTB. In this case you can ride with us and my friends that have more experience can show you beautiful wild places, forests, monasteries etc.
Unfortunately at the moment there is no a bike club in Moldova. We are working on now and I hope there will be one in the near future. But we have a bike forum www.velo.md I will put your message on this forum (please check the link) and I am sure you can get back many answers from Moldavian bikers. Unfortunately all messages are in Romanian and Russian languages only, but I think we will find a way to inform you. Please do not hesitate to write answers to our forum. :-) (Here is the English interface of forum: http://www.velo.md/forum/index.php?setlang...ODE=&t=&f=&st=)
One more info. If you have a GPS receiver on your bike, you can contact my friend and talk to him about a GPS map of Moldova. Please check this link to get more info about. http://bike.com.md/globus-moldova/foreign.html
And a small advise for you: please take a bike lock with you. Sometime bikes are stolen in Moldova and we do not have bike parking places. Anyway, you can get more info from the Moldavia biker forum. :-)
If you have more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Sincerely, Mircea.
